Free (or cheap) Media Creation Software

Paul Heydenburg has compiled this list of free, or affordable, media creation software. We're posting it here since one of the topics of our upcoming meeting is tips & tricks for adding media and sound to your Blackboard course. If you are aware of any other free or low-cost tools that you'd recommend be added to the list, leave a comment with the tool the URL.

Gimp is way more complex than most people need most of the time. Paint.NET is simpler for the basics, but Windows-only. http://www.getpaint.net.

I've used SUPER for converting from one video or audio type to another. Pretty simple, but not lightweight. http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html (scroll to bottom of page).

If SUPER isn't your cup of tea, I've also used WinFF with some success. Not quite a simple, but lighterweight. http://winff.org/html_new/.
