September SLATE meeting reminder

This is a reminder that our next monthly SLATE meeting will be held on Friiday, September 24th beginning at 12:00pm EST and hosted by Goshen College. (Please note the change in day and starting time. Goshen is one hour ahead of Chicago so plan accordingly). The SLATE Summit has given us the opportunity to talk about the direction of SLATE and serves as our planning and strategy meeting with regards to the activities, events, and meetings for the following year. We discuss major concerns that we are facing as individual institutions and how/if, as a group those concerns can be addressed. If you have items that you would like to discuss or agenda items you would like to see included please forward those to me as soon as possible.

Proposed Discussion Items

  • what challenges did your institution face starting the new school year
  • any iPad initiatives on your campus that you are willing to share
  • how do "you" connect with faculty
  • SLATE: conference, scheduling 2011, misc. items
At this meeting we also take a little time to have some fun. Floyd Saner of Goshen College is always a gracious host and arranges for us a truly wonderful experience which includes an Amish dinner (after the meeting) while taking on the additional roles of tour guide and resident expert for the weekend activities. Some people choose to bring their families and stay overnight on Friday and enjoy the Amish countryside on Saturday as well. General information about the meeting, scheduled events for Friday and Saturday, directions to Goshen, lodging, and things to do can be found on the Summit web page.

Please note that you MUST REGISTER in advance for this meeting using the online form and indicating what events you will participate in. Seating for dinner is limited so the sooner you register the better (Floyd needs a final count by September 15). So just use the form and Floyd will take care of the rest. And remember, spouses, significant others, friends, and guests are more than welcome.

If you have any questions please let me know. This meeting has become a SLATE tradition and a great way to kick-off the new school year. Hope to see you there.

Ken
