This is a
reminder that our next monthly SLATE meeting will be on Wednesday, June 20th beginning
@ 10:00am and hosted by Loyola University Chicago at the Lake Shore Campus. We
will be meeting in Cuneo Hall room 302 (number 18 on the attached map).
Additional information to be closely noted is at the end of this
message. So that Loyola can
prepare for our visit, it is very
important that you RSVP back to Ken Sadowski by Monday, June
18th with the names of those who will be attending from your
institution. Additional information on parking, directions, etc. is also at the
end of this message.
Main Agenda – eTextbooks, Fact or Fiction
The presentation and discussion will revolve around textbooks and Loyola's initiatives to introduce a wider use of the digital form of text. The discussion will be lead by several Loyola faculty and staff involved in the various campus initiatives. Anyone who has a similar initiative in place or is consider such, is encouraged to attend the meeting and join the discussion.

Additional Item of SPECIAL
Note
Also at this meeting, we will be recording short
snippets/comments from SLATE members that will be used during a presentation at
the upcoming BbWorld in July. The comments should be about your experience with
SLATE, what advantages you have found being a part of this group - either
personal or institution wide, and/or stories about what you have learned at a
meeting, conference, or through networking with others that have been
beneficial. These will also be part of the "10 Years of SLATE" story that we
will document on the web site and be part of the conference in October. Those
of you who aren't able to make this meeting can send to Ken Sadowski your video, or text
story to share. So think of a few things you might want to say on camera so we
have video stories to share with out SLATE colleagues who are doing the
presentation at BbWorld.

Directions: http://www.luc.edu/campusguide/lsc.shtml
NOTE: N. Sheridan becomes W. Sheridan for a three block
stretch from Kenmore to the Broadway/Devon intersection. If you
are using a GPS, use the address 1032 W. Sheridan Rd. Cuneo Hall
is number 18 on the campus map.
If you are driving from the
south, take Lake Shore Drive north to N. Sheridan Road. Continue north on
Sheridan for about ¾ mile until you reach Kenmore (this is a traffic light).
Turn right on Kenmore and go around the curve. The main parking structure is
straight ahead. Parking is $7.00 and can be paid with credit card. Cuneo Hall is
east of the parking structure. Just stay on the east-bound sidewalk heading
toward the lake and you will run into it.
From the north: head south on
Sheridan, turning left on Devon/W. Sheridan. Proceed two blocks to Kenmore and
turn left.
From the west: Devon turns
into Sheridan two blocks west of Kenmore.
Public Transportation: Take the 147 bus north and exit at Kenmore. Cuneo
Hall will be directly north of the stop. If you use the EL, take the red line
north and get off at the Loyola stop. Cross Sheridan and walk east on Loyola
Ave. until you can turn south. Cuneo Hall is just west of the Information
Commons (the all-glass building) and the Madonna Della Strata chapel (which has
a cross on the tower and on the back wall).
