2012 SLATE Summit and Retreat

As SLATE continues to celebrate ten years, the success of the group is due to the dedication of the institutions and continued participation of the individual members that make it up. The input and guidance of the members is what has sustained SLATE throughout the years. It has provided the group with information necessary to address issues and challenges in an informative and timely manner. The yearly SLATE Summit & Retreat gives us a focused opportunity to plan out the activities and events that will benefit the group for the coming year.

This year the SLATE Summit will be held on Friday, September 21 and will be hosted by our good friend and colleague, Floyd Saner of Learning Contexts, LLC., and held in Goshen, IN. Please register as-soon-possible so planning can be completed. Additional information on time, location, directions, and hotel accommodations can also be found at slategroup.org/summit.

This meeting also allows for us to have some fun and share a few laughs with family and friends. On Friday evening, an Amish meal has been arranged along with a visit to the Michiana Relief Sale and Quilt Auction to view some spectacular handcrafted artistry. For those of you who choose to stay over night, we will gather for breakfast at one of the local eateries and then stop in at the farmer's market before heading home. In the past, many members have brought along family and friends to join in the evening activities, and make a weekend of it in Amish Country, so remember, everyone is welcome. BTW - Notre Dame plays Michigan on Saturday evening... Anyone have tickets...???

This meeting will not be streamed, so if you are unable to attend, these are the items and discussion topics I would look for your input on, as we start the second decade and continued success of SLATE:
  • last minute conference items, thoughts, suggestions.
  • the ever changing teaching technology landscape. How will it effect your institution?
  • the role of SLATE at your institution in the coming year
  • meeting topics and agenda items for the coming year
  • new member campaign. Institutions looking to join a group like this...
  • who is able to host a meeting in 2013. Give me your first and second month choice.

Please email me your thoughts so they can be shared at the meeting. And remember, the 2012 SLATE Conference is October 11-12 and being held at a new venue this year; the NIU Naperville Campus in Naperville, IL. If you haven't done so already, REGISTER TODAY.

Thanks,

Ken
