November 2014 SLATE Meeting

Promoting Pedagogical Innovation and Student Engagement Through Modern Learning Spaces


Learn how Saint Xavier University is engaging students and faculty in modern pedagogically flexible learning spaces. These spaces are designed to cross the line between the three spaces students often spend a great deal of time in; the Classroom, Work, and the Coffee Shop. The rooms, designed in partnership with Herman Miller, takes advantage of current literature and principles of designing modern active learning spaces.

The presenters; Dr. Chris Zakrzewski, Assistant Provost for Technology and Instructional Innovation, Dr. Renee Robinson, Associate Professor of Communication and Michelle Carpenter, Learning Spaces Research Program Analyst, will share how Saint Xavier and Herman Miller came together under a common goal to research the effectiveness of their new spaces.
