Dear SLATE Colleagues,
The SLATE Group Board recognizes and deeply appreciates the 14 years of service Ken Sadowski has given to SLATE Group. He founded the group, provided vision and nurtured it as it grew, began the SLATE Conference, and expanded the organization to include a Board of Directors and the SLATE Fellows. His energy and enthusiasm served the organization well for many years. It is therefore with sadness that we accept Ken’s resignation as SLATE Group Executive Director.
The SLATE Group will continue to be guided by the organization’s mission statement, “To support learning and technology in education through communication, collaboration, and innovation while developing and sustaining a community of practice.” The SLATE Group Board has a strong commitment to serving the best interests of SLATE Group and its supporting community. Our vision is for SLATE Group to evolve and stay current with best practices and trends in online education and educational technology. We are committed to maintaining an organization that provides resources for administrators, educators and designers regardless of the learning management tools or delivery systems used.
In the coming months, the SLATE Group Board will be working with Ken to transition his many responsibilities. The monthly meetings will continue as planned, and we are exploring how to proceed with the annual conference, with plans to hold an in-person networking event, if not the full 3-day conference.
Our primary goal for the coming year is to fortify the SLATE Group’s status as a nonprofit entity and create a structure for sustainable governance that can serve the group for the years to come. We will be reaching out to the membership to establish some committees to help drive the activities of the SLATE Group moving forward.
Please feel free to reach out to the SLATE Group Board with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming monthly meetings.
Thank you for your continued support of the SLATE Group,
SLATE Group Board
