June 2013 SLATE Meeting

This is a reminder that the next monthly SLATE meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 19th beginning at 10:00am and hosted by Loyola University Chicago at their Lake Shore Campus in Cuneo Hall 217 (18 on the campus map). To give Loyola time to prepare for our visit, please RSVP back to Ken Sadowski by Monday, June 17th with the names of those that will be attending from your institution. Feel free to share this information with others, including faculty, that may be interested in this topic. Developing Best Practice Documentation for Faculty Teaching Online

We have great faculty that teach at our institutions who are experts in their field. But what they may be unfamiliar with, is taking their traditional classroom lecture series and moving that to an online teaching environment. What can we do to provide them with information and resources to be as equally successful teaching online. Loyola will share their experiences and show how they support their faculty. Everyone is encouraged to share their best practices and come up with other strategies that can be implemented on your own campus.

Directions: From the south--take Lake Shore Drive to N. Sheridan. Turn right on N. Sheridan and go about 1 mile. Turn RIGHT on N. Kenmore and follow this around to the parking ramp. Parking is $7.00 (credit cards accepted).

From the West: Devon Ave. turns into W. Sheridan (which is an extension of N. Sheridan). From Sheridan, turn left or north on N. Kenmore.

Public Transportation: take the Loyola redline stop; cross N. Sheridan Rd. and walk EAST; when you see the glass building on the lake (the Information Commons) turn right and head south. Cuneo Hall is on N. Kenmore (just west of the parking structure).

Bus: take the 147 outer drive express to the Kenmore stop. Cuneo Hall will be directly ahead of you as you head north on Kenmore.
