The Eighth Annual SLATE Summit & Retreat will once again be
hosted by our friend and colleague, Floyd Saner of Learning Contexts, LLC, and
held at the Goshen Chamber of Commerce in Goshen, IN., on Friday
September 27, 2013.
This is our annual planning meeting and gives us an opportunity to look at where we are as a group, where we want to be, what are important issues and concerns on your campuses, and basically for you to provide the direction of the group for the coming year. At this meeting we will also be looking for institutions to host our monthly meetings in 2014 ("usually" the third Wednesday of the month). If you think this is something you could and would like to do, let me know, or contact Ken for additional information.
This meeting will not be streamed, so if you are unable to attend, these are the items and discussion topics I would look for your input on, as we start the second decade of SLATE:
- the ever changing teaching technology landscape and how will it effect your institution
- specific issues and concerns you are facing on your campus
- the role of SLATE at your institution in the coming year
- meeting topics and agenda items for the coming year
- new member campaign. Institutions looking to join a group like this...
In addition, this meeting also allows for us to have some fun and share a few laughs with family and friends. On Friday evening, an Amish meal has been arranged along with a visit to the Michiana Relief Sale and Quilt Auction to view some spectacular handcrafted artistry. For those who choose to stay over night, we will gather for breakfast at one of the local eateries and then stop in at the farmer's market before heading home. In the past, many members have brought along family and friends to join in the evening activities, and make a weekend of it in Amish Country, so remember, everyone is welcome. For additional information and to register, go the the SLATE website.
I look forward to seeing you. Thank you for your continued support and participation in SLATE, as we start our second-decade as a group. It is your dedication that keeps the group moving forward. If there is anything you need from me, don't hesitate to ask.
Ken
