Advising Online Students
In 2004, The Sloan Consortium predicted a 25% growth rate in
students taking at least one online course. For online learning
outcomes to be judged as equivalent or superior to face-to-face
instruction, institutions must evaluate and move forward in how they
advise online students.
Based on the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) best practice in advising, the panel will present and then discuss:
- Student preparedness for online learning
- The Institution’s preparedness for online learning
- Technologies available
- Sample advising syllabi for online learners
